-AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS-

I will provide you with a Saniderm, a clear bandage that is applied to your tattoo after completion.

After that I recommend leaving it on your new tattoo for between 1 to 2 days. Everyone heals differently, and the length of time will vary depending on how much fluid your tattoo is weeping.

When the adhesion of the Saniderm bandage begins to weaken, that’s your cue to remove it. Remove bandage in a clean bathroom with clean hands under warm running water. The warmth will loosen the adhesive and make it easier to remove.

Do not rebandage your tattoo.

After removing bandage, wash the tattoo immediately with warm water and antibacterial soap. I recommend plain Dial soap out of a pump bottle.

Only use clean hands to wash your tattoo. No washcloths, bath towels, bath sponges or loofahs on a fresh tattoo.

Once the tattoo is dry apply a healing ointment. Apply a very thin layer, then dab excess off with a clean paper towel. Use the product for the first two days then switch to a regular fragrance-free lotion such as Lubriderm.

Fresh tattoos sometimes “weep” during the first couple of days, meaning that plasma and ink form a thin moist coating on the skin. This can be dabbed with a clean paper towel. Maintain a clean environment and clean bedding throughout the healing process (about 2-3 weeks).

After a few days, the tattoo will begin to form flaky scabs that will fall off their own. Do not pick or scratch at your tattoo. Once again, they will be the color of the tattoo. It normally takes 2-4 weeks for a tattoo to completely heal. If you have any questions about your healing, feel free to send me an email.
